Oral English leaming strategies and the learner’s language communicationcompetence is closely related. The proper application of oral English leamingstrategies will help the learners’ communication a lot. The object of this study isnursing majors from vocational colleges. What’s more, Higher Vocational EducationEnglish Syllabus of Nursing aims at helping develop students’ communicativecompetence. Therefore, special emphasis on the research of oral English learningstrategies has great practical significance in improving students’ communicativecompetence.The dissertation which is designed on the communicative competence and socialconstructivism approach, summarized the theoretical development of languageleaming strategies and the empirical researches on language learning strategies, usingliterature consultation, questionnaire survey, oral tests, interviews etc. to investigatethe overall use of the oral English learning strategies of nursing majors from highervocational colleges; Furthermore,20good oral English learners and20common onesare elected to conduct a survey, to find out the similarities and differences betweenthese two groups of learners in the use of oral English learning strategies.This study reached the following conclusions:(1) The using frequency of overalloral English learning strategies of nursing majors from higher vocational colleges islower(the mean using frequency is2.885), the situation is not optimistic.(2) Thesequence of the mean using frequency of five categories of oral English learningstrategies in descending order ranked communicative strategies, meta-cognitivestrategies, cognitive strategies, social strategies and affective strategies.(3) There areobvious differences between "good oral English learners" and "common oral Englishlearners"."Good oral English learners" used oral English learning strategies morefrequently than "common oral English learners". |
