Today, photography had already grown into an independent and widely arts. However, the fate between photography and painting has never stopped. Photography and painting are all built in the two-dimensional space. As part of Graphic Arts, they have a lot in common, and have some different trajectories at the same time. The link exists not only between the photography and Western painting, but also between the traditional Chinese painting and photography. After photography entering China, with its influence and penetration, there spawned a new genre-ink photography. Ink art is a typical representative of Chinese traditional arts. With the technology continue to progress, the global digitization era arrival, and under the background of calls for "national essence", ink art changing constantly seeking the new role. Ponder about the opposition of traditional and the modern gradually entangled into the contemporary creative thinking and theoretical thinking of the art of photography. Experiments of Chinese traditional ink art are getting a growing world attention. Ink photography developed rapidly in social concern. Meanwhile, the artistic value of ink art is facing a further inquiry.To solve the problems above, the article tries to get the interpretations from multiple angles of ink photography-interprets ink phenomena and experimental works appear nowadays by analyzing the internal and external factors of ink photography’s born, and summarizes the artistic characteristics of ink photography; systematically studies the artistic conception of Ink Art and works in different styles, then introduces influenced Ink photographer and appreciate their works; discusses the artistic achievements and cultural values of Ink photography, makes ideas and reference for the development of the Chinese ink photography and traditional Ink Painting.
