The Origin History Of GuShi YueFu Before Tang Dynasty

GuShi YueFu, known as GuShi Poetry or the Song Poetry of GuShi Style, is used to narrate the history facts and tales of the previous generation for expressing the later generation feelings. GuShi YueFu before Tang Dynasty, evolved in six periods.First:The Incubation Period in Zhou Dynasty. Hlegance Poetry is the source. Second:The Generation Period. The song poetry put its foundation on the Pre-Qin books and records, legends. There were two kinds of narrative methods. One title, one role and one fact called the Plot Narrative Method. One title but more roles and facts called the Simple Narrative Method. Ban Gu living in Kast-Han Dynasty. His YongShi song poetry created the tradition of the scholars using five-character poem to intone history. Third:The Development Period in Wei Dynasty. The facts were selected from the official history to unofficial history. It had a diversity poetic styles like the four-character poem, the five-character poem and the mixed-character poem. The tone still followed the previous dynasty’s mode. San Cao and Qi Zi were the representative authors. Cao Cao praised lots merits of emperors and dukes to indicate his own ideal. Cao Zhi combined the Plot Narrative Method with the Simple Narrative Method. Wang Can’s Yongshi learned from Ban Gu. Zuo Yannian’s works had Han Dynasty’s style. Fourth:The Prevalent Period in Jin Dynasty. The Parnassus had more masterpieces and great authors. Most of them, such as Fu Xuan, Shi Chong and Zuo Si, chose the female subject for their poems. Fifth:The Disintegration Period in Southern and Northern Dynasty. Only Bao Zhao and Yu Xin insisted on producing GuShi YueFu. Sixth:The Nonplus Period in Sui Dynasty. This period is the transition period for the revival of GuShi YueFu in Tang Dynasty.
