A Tentative Study On The Tones Of Gushi Dialect And The Contrast Between The Tones Of Gushi And Mandarin

In this paper, the experimental phonetics method is used to discuss the tone of Gushi speech. The experiment include experimental phonological analysis of monosyllable speech and experimental phonological analysis of bi-syllable tones.The results of the experimental phonological analysis of monosyllable speech : 1.The Yinping's tone value is of the Gushi dialect is 213, and the rising point of the Yinping's tone value is at 33% of the whole fundamental frequency. 2.The Yinping's tone value is a high level tone,Yinping's tone value of the placement between 4 and 5,so Yinping's tone value of Gushi dialect is 44 or 55.3. The Shangsheng's tone value is located in the middle of the tone rage , the starting point of the Shangsheng ranges from 2 to 3, the placement between 3 and 4, therefore, the Shangsheng's tone value of Gushi dialect is 23 or 34. 4.The Qusheng's tone value is a high falling tone, the tone value of male and female is almost no difference, the placement of Qusheng is at the junction of 2 and 3, so Qusheng's tone value of the Gushi dialect is 52/53.The results of the experimental phonological analysis of bi-syllable tones: The Yinping's tone value of the Gushi dialect is extremely unstable when the two-character group is connected, and in the 16 combinations of the two-word series,whether it is the former word or the latter ,the Yinping's tone value has changed. 1.Yinping as the former word (Yinping + Shangsheng, Yinping + Qusheng) in the case,the Yinping's tone value from the original 213 into 323. 2. Yinping as the former word(Yinping + Yangping),in the progress of Yinping and Yangping's liaison, the tone contour of Yinping from twists and turns to falling tone,according to the physiological conditions of the pronouncer ,it could be high falling tone(41),it also could be middle falling tone(31). 3. in the progress of Yinping and Yinping's liaison(Yinping + Yinping),the former Yinping is drop firstly and then rise,and the amplitude of the rise and fall are very small, and the most important, the drop point of the former Yinping is the starting point of the posterior tone, the latter Yinping is also drop before the rise, and the starting point and placing point of the former word is in the same level of tone value.4. Yinping as the latter word, its tone is still a twists and turns, the law is that the starting point and placing point is in the same level of tone value. 5. In the progress of Shangsheng and Yinping's liaison(Shangsheng + Yinping),the Shangsheng's tone value may be from a middle tone (34) into a high tone (45), in other cases , Shangsheng's tone value unchanged. 6. The tone value of Yangping and Qusheng in the Gushi's dialect remains unchanged.By comparing the tone of Gushi dialect and Mandarin, we help Gushi dialect native speakers regulate their own Mandarin pronunciation and achieve the purpose of promoting Chinese Mandarin teaching.
