Maritime Consciousness Of Modern And Contemporary Chinese Marine Poetry

With the rapid compression of human living space, marching into the ocean becomes inevitable in the future. From the perspective of literary, study of ocean is very meaningful. This article does a overall research of modern and contemporary Chinese marine poetry from the point of the maritime consciousness, demonstrates the relationship between maritime consciousness and marine poetry creating, and calls on people to set up a more scientific, modern consciousness of the ocean and to support the ocean development in cultural field.Full text is divided into three parts. The first part is the preface. I introduce concepts of marine literature, marine poetry and maritime consciousness, and summarize the research status of China’s current ocean literature (including Marine poetry).The second part is the body. After the overview of Chinese contemporary marine poetry, I will conduct the research from three angles:the emotional experience, the distance between people and ocean, and the image of ocean.The first chapter is about the history of modern and contemporary Chinese Marine poetry. The first stage was from the New Cultural Movement to the1930s. During this period, the modern Marine poetry was in the initial stage of development, and the ocean was another name for individuality, freedom, and love. The second phase was from the late of1930s to1940s. In the age of war, the ocean was closely linked with the national destiny, and the mouthpiece of national salvation. The third stage was from1949to the end of the Cultural Revolution. Under the high pressure of political ideology, the poets compromised and created a great number of ideological ocean poetry, but some resisted and wrote the philosophical sea from the perspective of life. The fourth stage started from the end of the Cultural Revolution. Under the background of the opening-up policy. Marine poetry creating entered into the boom. Old poets continued the philosophical sea poetry creating, and new writers began to learn the western poetry methods, opening up a new way of Marine poetry creating. With the development of the maritime consciousness, they began thinking about the relationship between human and the sea, and pursued the harmony between them.The second chapter analyzes the maritime consciousness of the marine poem from the perspective of emotional experience. The strong sense of land makes a lot of poetry express an affection of returning to the home land and wanting to stay, so the ocean is ignored from the territory. In Marine poems which have a strong maritime consciousness, the poets regard the sea as home and treat the ocean as a haven of the soul, so the ocean is part of their territory.Chapter three, I will analyze the relationship between the sea and people. In the poetry with weak maritime consciousness, people tend to neglect oceans and often choose to watch the sea from a long distance. Human and the sea have a diaphragm. The late poets treat the human as a member of the ocean, and pay close attention to ecological health of ocean in the process of heading towards the sea. They eager to blend in ocean, and the distance between sea and human is gradually narrowed.In chapter four, because of different maritime consciousnesses, in the poetry of weak consciousness, poets tend to choose a single, fixed sea image, showing us a simpleness and lack of Marine peculiarity sea. However, strong ones pay attention to show the variety of ocean, and they often use more brilliant and colorful sea images, setting up a blue ocean world.The third part is the epilogue. Because Chinese cultural tradition considers that land is more important than ocean, maritime consciousness in modem and contemporary Chinese marine poetry is not always bright. But the future will be the century of ocean. Ocean will be more and more important in the economical, social and cultural development. How to enter the ocean deeply with the modern maritime consciousness and promote the harmony of man and the sea are the problems that the contemporary Marine poetry needs to solve.
