In recent years, the deep view of the world and value of Chinese citizens areexperiencing fierce impact as going with the emboldening of the swift growth of economyand culture’s globalizing. Regarding the significance of the quintessence of traditionalculture on ideological and ethical progress in China, the appeal of resuscitating traditionalculture has been surging. The main purpose of this research are to discuss the core ofconfusion, which has always been the mark of Chinese people, Jen. Not only the originalappearance of Jen, but also what has been seeming in moderns days, and then contrast thetwo above.Firstly take a Literature Review&Summary to clarify3realm.1, the structure of Jenin ancient records;2, the structure of Jen of modern people’ minds;3, the function of Jenrelated on moral construction. Based on those documents, select Grounded theory to guidethe two parts of researches. Part1,research on the ancient records, to develop a theory ofJen’s structure; part2, research on modern students in university, taking in depth interview, then checking over the translated in word, and forming the structure of modern Jen. At last, compare these two supposedly different view of Jen item by item.In the first part, the researchers choose two volumes as resources: annotation on TheAnalects composed by HeYan from the Wei dynasty and XingBing from Song dynasty, andJuxi’s a variorum for analects. Then sort out the sentences involving Jen from these twovolumes and code them for three levels: open coding, Axial Coding and selective codingtill the theory model come out. During the process, after firstly get the hypothesis of thetheory, the researchers check over and over again with the references until the theory ofJen’s structure saturated. The outcome of the research shows: traditional Jen’ structureincluding3dimensions:1,personality related, which is composed by “interpersonalrelationship”,“wisdom”,“living attitude”;2, Practice related, which is composedby“respectful”,“generous”,“faithful”;3,“Jen’s attribute”, which is composed by “Li-Yiinvolved”,“dominant position in culture”,“Jen is human nature”. In part2, randomly selected thirty-one university students, one of them is prepared forreliability testing after the coding procedure, balance their major, gender and grades. theresearchers then interview them one by one at least for30minutes, with those recordstransplanted in word after, the researchers do coding work the same as part1.The outcomeshows modern university students’ view of Jen, finally sorted in3dimensions as traditionalJen’s structure, which are1, personality related, which is composed by “interpersonalrelationship”,“wisdom”,“living attitude”,“openness”,“emotionality”,“kindness”,“operating style”;2, Practice related, which is composed by “protocol”,“criterion”;3,“Jen’s attribute”, which is composed by “political and cultural traits”,“love is the essence”,“acceptance of human nature”.Contrast the two structure of Jen, the researchers found those differences:1, changeof structure, original key points disappeared and new key points show up;2, differentiationof concepts, traditional ones being revised of new concept show up;3, change of essentialattitudes, including growing disagreement over Jen and change of attitude on some things.
