In the era of globalization, translation is required in many areas. Publicity-oriented translation is a window for foreigners to have a glimpse of China. It consists of the translation of texts, such as various media coverage, government documents, introductions to government and enterprises, public signs, and so on.As a very important part of publicity-oriented translation, brochures describing cultural, economic and other aspects of provincial areas are of great significance in enhancing exchange and communication, promoting foreign trade and investment, and attracting tourists. Thus translators should pay particular attention to it, taking fidelity, accuracy and the expected effect of communication into consideration.Nowadays many errors frequently occur in publicity-oriented translation, and misunderstandings are not easily dissolved. The present author will discuss the strategies he applied in the retranslation of the brochure A Viewing Corridor on the Silk Road:Gansu. He argues that translators should, while working on such texts, follow the TL reader-centered communicative translation principle, under the guidance of "evading cultural divergences" and "translating meaning"...
