Although various types of books have mentioned about this book since the Tang Dynasty, there’s still a big difference between these records and the original book for the original version had got lost This chapter mainly gives an introduction of its title, author, date time, style, etc. and makes a brief analysis of the relationship between "Ba Dai Tan Sou" and "Jie Yi".Chapter Ⅱ is to filter and classify the content of "Ba Dai Tan Sou". This book mainly records the conversation anecdotes of Scholars in the Northern and Southern Dynasty. This chapter divides the recorded characters into two types of kings and nobles according to their identities and introduces each type according to the personality traits of the characters.Chapter Ⅲ makes a summary of the artistic features of "Ba Dai Tan Sou"."Ba Dai Tan Sou" is a novel of anecdotes and character sketches written in classical Chinese. Besides the common features of this kind of novel, it has its own artistic features. This chapter gives a simple summary of these features.Chapter VI makes a comparison between "Ba Dai Tan Sou" and "Shi Shuo Xin Yu"."Shi Shuo Xin Yu" is a representative and pinnacle of Story Depicting Humanity. This chapter compares it with "Ba Dai Tan Sou" from the content, ideological orientation and artistic techniques.
