Wu Zuxiang , a novelist of Society Analysis Group, influenced deeply by the creative thought of Lu Xun , Mao Dun , Zhu Ziqing and others, was active in literary circles on 1930s. One side, he inherited the realism tradition of "May 4th" novels for life and society, persisting in reflection on actual life , whose appreciation of the beauty expanded from numerous living beings in real society to the entire nation and country, expressed topic from all the political and economical breakdown into the violent conversion of culture and morality deeply. So the general thought characteristic of his novels , such as paying attention to life, grasping the essence of family, analyzing society and rethinking nation profoundly,was formed. These were the spirit of "Depicting Reality" in his novels. On another side , Wu Zuxiang absorbed the classical fiction historical style of writing , drew lessons from artistic means on 19th century such as observing cool-headedly , portraying accurately, showed objective, implicit and authentic style: writing a person's good, beauty , evil or ugliness directly as he was , hiding a personage character in his own words and deeds , making effort to enliven persons on paper, narrating meaningfully and simply, never being bedrabbled and valuating subjectively, pursuing detail truth, reflecting great society by minor appearance. It had " dramatic " inclination. These were the artifice about "Depicting Realistically" in his novels. "Depicting Reality" and"Depicting Realistically", which were fused perfectly in Wu Zuxiang's novels, had shown unique actualism art charm in his novels.
