Scene perception means the recognition of the information of scene which containisscene background and foreground. Scene perception mainly focuses on how toprocess the objects and background from complex and real-world scene. In the realworld, objects always present accompanied by other objects and particularcircumstance, which provides detailed and rich background information for visualsystem. The reseaches from visual cognition, conputer vision and cognitiveneuroscience suggest that searching and indentification performance of objects areinfluenced on the information of background. The phenomenon is called sceneconsistency effect. Most researches focus on this effect. And it is also the mostcontroversial issue.Informed researches on processing mechanisms of scene recognition have not yetform a unified understanding. Reviewthe researches, the researchers used differentstimuli and methods, etc. Different studies come to different conclusions andtheoretical explanations. Different studies obtained confilicting findings, there aresome studies found that consistent objects in the scene are easier to be recognized, there are some reseaches found that inconsistent objects are be recognized, and somereseachers suggest that there is no difference of recognition performance betweenconsistent objects and inconsistent objects. In order to solve the complexity problemsof how to process and recognize scene, our study uses full-color real scenes, and weuse naming paradigm. We investigate how the consistency between objects andscenes influence on the identification of objects and scenes in detail. The present study contains two parts. The first part investigates how theobject-background consistency affects theidentification of objects and scenes. Thesecond part discusses how theidentification of objects and scenes is influenced on theobject relatedness. We chosed110college studentsto participate the experiments,executed2studies in the presentpaper. The results of this study were as follows:(1) Object-backgroundconsistency is existed between objects in scenes, which exists object consistency and backgroundconsistency.(2) Objects and backgrounds are influenced and facilitated each other.(3)Despite the relatedness between objects, scene recognition is influenced byconsistency effect.(4) Object-backgroundconsistency and object relatednessinteractively affect the identification of objects.(5) Object-backgroundconsistencyand object relatedness affects scene recognition independently, which supportsDavenport’s(2007)standpoint.
