Diachronocal And Synchronical Exploration Of "Dai (带/戴)+Object"

Verb-object construction is an important researching field in Chinese grammar and has been enjoying concerns among researchers.However,verbs of a certain type or a certain verb followed by an object,specifically speaking,is little explored.This paper takes "Dai¹/Dai^2â‘ +object" as research object to further the study concerning.On one hand,Dai¹/Dai²,with the same pronunciation in Chinese,belongs to vocabulary of high frequency in modern Chinese while the sound mastery over "Dai¹/Dai²+object construction" by students is generally below the average level in Chinese teaching at the-primary-and-high-school level and Chinese teaching as a foreign language.Therefore,a deeper study of "Dai¹/Dai²+object construction" is necessary to mininize the deviation of its use.On the other hand,imaging the big from the small,"Dai¹/Dai²+object" is taken as an case study to explore the Verb-object construction in Chinese.This thesis consists of 4 chapters:In chapter one,Syntactic analysis is used to explore the collocation of Dai¹/Dai² +object",showing that"Dai¹/Dai²+object" is characterized with looseness and dynamics. Syntactically,"Dai¹/Dai²+object"can function as different grammar components and is obviously featured by predication,with the ratio of 84%and 66%respectively.Additionally, the basic semantic characteristics of "Dai¹/Dai²" are concretely analyzed.In chapter two,semantic types of objects in"Dai¹/Dai²+object construction"are synchronically explored,based on which sampling writings are selected and semantic types of objects in"Dai¹/Dai²+object construction" are detailedly studied in terms of order of priority.The study shows that the verb"Dai¹"is followed by more types of objects than "Dai²"and that patient object is the main type of the object used in "Dai¹/Dai²+object construction".In chapter three,the development and evolution of post-object components in"Dai¹/Dai²+object construction" are diachronically explored.The 8 historic stages of pre-Qing dunasty and Qin-Han dynasty are classified to study the usage of object in "Dai¹/Dai²+object construction".The comparative study shows that the post-object components of "Dai¹/Dai²+object construction" is characterized with richness and comlexity while grammatical features remain relatively stable in the process of development.In chapter four,the difference and relationship between "Dai²+object"and"Dai¹+ objecf"are furtherly elaborated.On one hand,"Dai²"and "Dai¹",with different meanings, can be followed by the same object.On the other hand,"Dai¹" can be followed by more objects referring to man and thing than "Dai²".
