| Citizen consciousness in modern times refers to the individual citizens’ rational cognition and psychological responses to the citizen identity and status, to the citizen values and functions in their counties and society, mainly including the consciousness of citizenship, the consciousness of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, the consciousness of democracy and rule of laws, the consciousness of citizen participation. The cultivation of citizen consciousness in contemporary China is the objective requirement of the development of the market directed economy, the basic concept of socialist democratic politics development, the intelligence support of the development of the civil society, and the intrinsic need of the modernization of people. With the progress of the society brought by the reform and opening-up policy in these thirty years, Chinese consciousness is awake and developing now, but it’s still in its initial stage and its development speed dose not meet the requirement of the modernization process. The shortage of citizen consciousness has become the bottleneck of the modernization process in China. To clarify the connotation and characteristics of citizen consciousness, to research and use the laws of the development of it, to exploit the advantages of cultivating citizen consciousness to the full based on the national conditions, to build and adhere to the basic principles of the cultivation, and to explore the cultivation path of it in contemporary China, becomes the demand of the times for deepening modernization development in China. And it is also a hot spot in the ideological and political education’s theory and practice research which is now paying more attention to all-round development of man.This paper includes six parts. The introduction part mainly introduces the origin of the topic choice, the significance of the research, the domestic and international relevant research, and the ideas and methods of this paper, which is in order to lay the foundation for this research. In the first chapter, on the basis of combing the western citizen consciousness historical evolution and the breed and development of Chinese citizen consciousness, absorbing many scholars research results existed, I try to defy the concept of citizen consciousness in this paper. And at the same time, I also make comparison among citizen consciousness, subject consciousness, civic consciousness and the people’s consciousness in order to grasp the connotation and characteristics of citizen consciousness better. In the second chapter, on the basis of the predecessors’studies on citizen consciousness, I explore and sum up three basic laws of the formation and development of modern citizen consciousness from the perspective of ideal logical and political education, which are that modern civic awareness formation develops on certain social basis, follows the "know-do" contradictory movement mechanism, and the trend of its development is rising but its process is complicated for its hierarchy and difference. In the third chapter, I analyze the current situation of the cultivation of Chinese citizen consciousness nowadays. The advantages are mainly embodies in its essence of socialism and some outstanding traditional contents, but the disadvantages include the wrong awareness of the value and role of cultivation of citizen consciousness and some problems of the cultivation contents and channel. In the fourth chapter, based on the current situation, followed the laws of citizen consciousness cultivation, cultivation of citizen consciousness in today’s China should develop those advantages and set up basic principles and explore certain methods to compensate those shortages. The conclusion part summarizes the ideas and the contents of the whole paper and points out the research prospect. |
