Coal mine virtual environment system is important part of the digital mines. Existing coal mine virtual environment system is largely based on secondary development of mature foreign engines and is not suited to China’s coal mining theory and technology. Foreign software cannot meet China’s coal industry unique geological mining conditions and technical specifications.For the characteristics of coal dynamic mining, encapsulation and abstraction the key technologies for coal virtual system, the paper proposed3D Engine Architecture for coal mine applications, quickly and efficiently build coal virtual system. In addition, the paper discussed design and implementation of graphics rendering engine and coal mines of professional features in detail. Following are the aspects of the main work:(1) Proposed architecture of the virtual three-dimensional coal engine, including the operating system layer, render layers and application support layer, and layers of the function module is designed for a detailed exposition.(2) The four modules of the overall structure and key technologies of the graphics rendering engine are discussed. Scene organization using separate design of the scene graph and scene content in order to enhance engine; Rendering system designed flexible render queue to ensure the rendering efficiency; Single cases, class factory, iterative design patterns are used to improve the efficiency of resource management; The object model is extended applications for coal mine, such as lane,coal seams、drilling and other entities.(3) GIS spatial data engine is introduced into3D engine of the Virtual Mine. Designed coalmine virtual environment spatial data models and storage structures, a uniform data interface for data storage, data query and data updated.(4) Study modeling methods of coal, coal and drilling. Cross-processing simple roadway on the basis of roadway topological relations.(5) Rendering terrain using hierarchical block, Terrain block data can be dynamically load and unload based on the viewpoint, and match the "gap" between terrain blocks.Based on the research and design a prototype system of the coal virtual environment system is developed, and with actual coal mine data to show the interface and functionality. Finally, research results are summarized and the direction of further research.
