Pinacolone synthetic route from Isopentenyl to Pinacolone contains two steps. one is addition reaction, and another is condensation reaction. The condensation reaction contains cyclization, ring opening, rearrangement procedures, and is easy to generate the polymer. So this step is the key step influencing the product yield. This paper introduce some reaction inhibitor and phase transfer catalyst into this reaction system to provide a theoretical basis for experimental research and industrial production. Through multiple sets of parallel experiments,it found that the effect to this condensation reaction are better than others when the experiments used PEG400 as phase transfer catalyst and hydroquinone as polymerization inhibitor. The process conditions included the amount of catalyst, reaction time, reaction temperature, the ratio of raw materials which were researched in orthogonal experiment, and found the feasible domain of the various factors and significant. And finally, using the hydrochloric acid as a catalyst, the experiments investigated the various factors impact to the Pinacolone yield and tar cargoes and get the optimum conditions: continuous heating up, and dropping all the formaldehyde completed within 80℃,and then continuing thermal insulation, n (chloro pentane)/n (formaldehyde) is 1:1.25, hydrochloric acid catalyst concentration is 30%, reaction time is 10h, pinacolone yield was 67.24%.
