The techno-interface of BF-BOF region is the key region to optimize the iron-making and steel-making process as a whole. It is also an important stage that connects iron-making process and steel-making process in the production line, acting as a connecting link between the preceding and the following procedure. It also optimize the important indicators of BF-BOF interface mode, based on which material flow, energy flows, temperature, time and other basic parameters can coordinate, converge well and keep a good stability feature in steel production. In this way, it can achieve coordination, continuity, high efficiency."The mode of one open ladle" from BF to BOF has more advantageous such as:canceling the process of ladle to ladle in the steelmaking plant, reducing the ladling working time in steelmaking, shorten process flow, compacting general layout. Especially, to improve operating schedule of techno-interface mode in BF-BOF region it must be based on the capacity correspondence of BF and BOF, and it will evolve to the mode that the hot metal charging ladle carries on all the tasks of the techno-interface.In this paper, for the problem that the hot metal charging ladles run poor causing too many customers in the waiting room and much waiting time, which results in large temperature drop in "the mode of one open ladle" in BF-BOF region, we discuss the queuing model of "the mode of one open ladle" which is used to describe the material flow mode in the blast furnace (BF)-basic oxygen furnace (BOF) region. What’s more, according to the experiments in BF-BOF region of a steel plant in China, the indicators comparison between M/M/C system and C M/M/1systems has been made. The type of queuing had effects on the mean number of customers in the waiting room and the mean waiting time. It could be found that with the increase of the number of servers, the indicators of single queue queuing system were better than those of the multi-queues system, the mean number of customers in the waiting room and the mean waiting time were less, the mean number of customers in the waiting room and the mean waiting time saved increased in linear in single-queue queuing system. For the purpose of making the waiting time less, production capacity more and busy rate more in "the mode of one open ladle" which is used to describe the material flow mode in the blast furnace (BF)-basic oxygen furnace (BOF) region, WITNESS simulation is carried out in this work. The queuing simulation systems which were used to describe the relationships among the numbers of hot metal charging ladles in the cycle, production capacity, average waiting time and busy rate were studied. The results imply that the number of hot metal ladles in the cycle has effects on the average waiting time, production capacity and busy rate. The optimization model has been developed to obtain the optimal numbers of hot metal charging ladles in the cycle with less waiting time, higher production capacity and more busy rate. This work can provide reference for the steel plants’material flow optimization in BF-BOF region.
