The rated power of a power tool is an important criterion at point of sales for customers to make a purchase decision. Over the previous years all main suppliers have constantly driven the rated power of power to new heights.Since the rated output power is determined as the measured electrical input power of motor at90K over temperature of either the field windings or the armature windings (whichever has high temperature), an easy approach to increase rated power is to enhance the cooling system of the motor. The more efficient the cooling system is, the higher the rated power will be.In this thesis, establish a mathematical model of the current state of airflow in an existing circular saw, and optimized two major influence factors to improve overall air cooling of system.1) Twist angle of axial fan2) Air guidance through internal motor housing.During research, simulate mass of air flow with CFD software, and verified by testing.At the end, take suggestion on power tools with similar construction.
