The technical improvement researches for the problems existing in the circulating water system of Olefins Division, BaLing Petrochemical Company of Sinopec Group were carried out. The detailed technology researches included the equipments used in cooling tower, such as the water distribution sprayer, pouring water packing and water collector, the "triple-system" in circulating water, sterilization system, bypassing filtration systems and energy-saving measures of the circulating water pumps. Based on adequately survey at home, it was determined that the original cooling tower frame structure, palisade structure, fan power system and glass fiber reinforced plastics were keepd, but the water collector, the water distribution system and the packing were replaced with new ones during the circulating waste system was modified. After the modification the cooling tower capacity was increased from9000m3/h to11400m3/h.After the technical improvement of the "triple-system", sterilization system and bypassing filtration system, all qualities of the circulating water system were improved. Among those indexes, the corrosion rate and the adhesion rate were both far below their standards regulated by the BaLing Petrochemical Company. The temperature difference between cool water and hot water was raised from4℃to8℃. The concentration multiple increased from3.2to5.0. The qualified efficiency of the water quality increased from84.91%to96.64%, and so on. The energy-saving effective was remarkable after improvement of circulating water pumps and fans. The successful implementation of this project has bringed over3.8496million yuan per year for the company. In addition, the energy consumption index of the oil refining unit was improved and made the Olefins Division more competitive in oil refining industry.
