As the development of the world’s total output of steel has becomeincreasingly saturated, focus on the development of iron and steel enterprisequietly changed from the original emphasis on product gross to the precision ofthe products now. And Strip rolling is a essential part of iron and steelproduction, the advanced level of rolling equipment directly affects the qualityof strip products.This paper takes four-high reversing cold mill renovation project ofShanxi Province metallurgical equipment design theory and Technology KeyLaboratory--Ministry of State Key Laboratory breeding base as a researchobject. Based on the theory of the structural modal and dynamic responseanalysis, strength of four-high reversing cold mill stand, roll system, and theoverall of the mill,stiffness and the dynamic characteristics were simulated bythe finite element analysis method. Aiming at the existent problems of thefour-high reversing cold mill, hydraulic pressure takes place of the mechanicalpressure, which improved the accuracy and timeliness of four-high reversingcold mill. The hydraulic pressure device was installed on the condition thatheight in the rolling window was constant, resulting in insufficient space of millstand.Therefore work rolls and backup rolls can’t be put in the normalplace.So the mill is reformed by the method of reducing the support rolldiameter. Firstly, the geometric solid model of four-high reversing cold millstand, assembly of work roll and backup roll and the overall of mill stand wereestablished by using the three-dimensional software of Solidworks. The solidmodels were imported separatly into the finite element analysis software ofWorkbench, the dynamic characteristics and rigidity of four-high mill wereanalyzed and simulated systematically. Through the analysis of the strength,stiffness and modal of the mill, the stress concentration part of the mill standunder maximum rolling force was obtained, which is a easily damaged place;Through modal analysis, the natural frequency and the corresponding vibrationmode of mill stand was obtained, which provides scientific basis for avoiding resonance of mill stand. the analysis of statical analysis on roll system of therolling mill was to see whether the support roll diameter transformed can meetthe rolling demand or not. Through the statical analysis of overall model offour-high reversing cold mill, the mill stiffness was obtained and the factors thatinfluence the rigidity were analyzed; Through modal analysis, the first fifteenorder of natural frequency and vibration mode of the mill stand and theinfluence of the biggest vibration modes on the mill vertical direction wereobtained. This research provides scientific basis for avoiding rolling millresonance and has a very important practical significance.This study provides a the successful case of mill equipment modificationfor small and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises or scientific researchinstitutions, which provides theoretical guidance for the small cost of renovationand small and medium enterprises sustainable development.
