This thesis introduces the central control system technology of belt conveyor and its development, analyzes the belt conveyor central control trends, and discusses the current status of belt conveyor control system in Dongtan Coal Mine and proposes a set of control modification program to resolve the existing problems.The research project is mainly focus on reducing the quantity and work intensity of underground personnel, avoiding unnecessary misoperation in order to improve production efficiency while downsizing staff. After analyzing the current situation of the control manner of the underground belt conveyor and finding it cannot meet the need of coalmine informationization cosntruction, the paper introduces some technologies, such as Profibus field bus, PLC control technology, industrial Ethernet ring network, host computer technology, industrial configuration software, to optimize the existing belt conveyor safety protection devices and modify the electrical control systems, which can integrate and transmit the key parameters and control signals. After the optimization, the belt conveyor control system can connect the centralized belt conveyor system mainframes through the industrial Ethernet ring network of the coalmine and the central control room server can realize data communication with belt conveyor central control system via the Ethernet ring network and OPC (DDE/FTP) interface communication protocol. While discussing the aboveground control system modification of the6set of underground belt conveyors, the paper also focus on applying software technology to find solutions for long belt conveyor’s controlled/soft start as well as the controlled start and controlled/soft brake of downward belt conveyor in negative force operation conditions.After the above-mentioned modification, the underground belt conveyor can be controlled and monitored from the central control system aboveground with increased safety and reliability. Therefore, the automation level of the overall underground belt conveyor system is increased and can meet the safety and reliability requirements of the Coalmine. Meanwhile the unattended and remote control on the belt conveyor improves the production efficiency while downsizing staff.
