In the case of traditional non-ferrous metal resources worldwide consumption, rich reserves and price advantage make magnesium alloy become the world’s most widely used light alloy. The development and application of magnesium and magnesium alloy products have great significance for the social construction and sustainable development of mankind in the21st century. Casting is the main processing of magnesium alloy currently.But it is proved that wrought magnesium alloy has a higher strength, better mechanical properties and more applications. Therefore, the new processing technology and equipment development of wrought magnesium alloy have been the universal importance of the domestic and foreign researchers.Hydrostatic extrusion technology had been applied to the AZ80magnesium alloy tube processing in this paper. Magnesium alloy tube hydrostatic extrusion mold was designed and the hydrostatic extrusion process was simulated with finite element software Deform-3D. The analysis results,like extrusion speed,extrusion temperature,extrusion pressure,stress and equivalent strain, were used to the design of hydrostatic extrusion equipment.The hydrostatic extrusion device was manufactured and the design method of its main parts was discussed in this paper.Prestressed structure was applied to the tension column of the rack and it helped to reduce the displacement of58%of the front spar.Three extrusion cylinder design methods(self-tightening extrusion cylinder,assembled extrusion cylinder and interlaminar pressurized extrusion cylinder) were given in the paper. Given within the same inner and outer diameter,the elastic limit internal pressure of the assembled extrusion increases with the number of layers and the assembly and manufacturing difficulty also improves.Self-tightening extrusion cylinder and interlaminar pressurized extrusion cylinder can significantly raise the elastic limit internal pressure of extrusion cylinder.The interlaminar pressurized extrusion cylinder used in this paper increased the elastic limit internal pressure value from510MPa to1004MPa.
