The metal structure is the most important structure of the overhead travelingcrane. This paper use the damage tolerance theory and reliability theory researchthe metal structure of the overhead traveling crane. Because damage tolerancecan reasonably consider the damage influence to the structures, recent yearsmany related researches have been worked out. With the development of theengineering technique, developing more reasonable theory and methods is aproblem.This paper use damage tolerance theory and fracture mechanics andreliability:1. In depth analysis of damage tolerance theory, would damage tolerancestudy of Overhead traveling crane structure design theory.2. For eight weight classes on the class six spans a total of forty eightdouble-girder overhead traveling crane box beam section dimensioncalculation of item-by-item, calculate the design strength and stiffness ofthe section corresponding to the parameter values, calculated by furthermore reasonable recommended values for the main beam sectiondimensions, for design-time reference.3. Use the theory with experimental methods, are in accordance with theactual welding of low-carbon steel Q235box beams of fracture toughnessK Cvalue of welding.4. For eight weight classes on the class six spans a total of forty eightdouble-girder overhead traveling crane for the study, calculated under the mostadverse conditions overhead traveling crane box dangerous section of criticalcrack size.5.
