With the electric power consumption of our country rises ceaselessly, therequirement of power quality Enhances rapidly, especially for the rural power networkwhose construction lags behind that of other areas in our country. At present, there aremany problems existing in rural power network such as fragmented structure of powerline, high line loss rate, low power factor of the load and so on which not only causesignificant economic losses to the national electricity department, but also affectelectricity quality of rural users. To solve these problems, it needs to monitor therunning datas of the rural network line systematically, then track and compensatereactive power capacities automatically for the line according to the feedback.In view of the present situations of the rural power network above, this paperdesigns and develops a kind of applicated system to solve the long-standing problemswhich restrict the development of the the rural power network. The system mainlycomposed of high performanced electrical meters, long-distance monitor terminalsServer computer and some related sofewares for monitoring the parameters of ruralelectrical network. Through the reactive power monitoring module which based on theintelligent electric meters and collection device, the systerm can achieve to survey andmonitor electric quantity parameters such as three-phase voltage, three-phase current,active power, reactive power and power factor of electrical network lines inlong-distance. Finally, according to the algorithm analysis results, input the equipmentsof reactive power compensation and track the situation of power factor’s improvement.Through the tests of simulation and practical application, the systerm shows a goodapplication effect. When the systerm was put into operation, it monitored the whole lineand compensated reactive power capacities needed. The systerm improved power factorof the line, improved power quality and reduced power loss successfully.The applicationof the systerm can improve power factor effectively, The fact proves that it has a vitalsignificance to improve the economic benefits of the rural power network.
