With the rapid development of modern industry, a lot of non-linear powerloads such as iron magnetic components and power electronics technology areapplied in all kinds of living, office and production. Harmonics and voltageflicker and other power quality problems are increasingly serious in thedistribution network, which bring a lot of negative impact on the grid and users.It’s necessary to construct power quality monitoring system for power qualitystatus of the distribution network and real-time monitoring of critical loads, inorder to improve power quality environment and reduce loss caused by inferiorenergy.Firstly, this article analyzes power quality interference source statistics inFoshan distribution network by industry, masters the interference characteristicsand contamination degree of users. Secondly, this paper develops a power qualitymonitoring system and supporting monitoring terminals, harmonic controlcompensation device as well. This paper also carries pilot operation of the wholesystem in harsh power quality distribution network terminal. Power quality andeconomic efficiency are compared before and after the operation. In the end, thispaper designs upgrading program of power quality monitoring system in Foshandistribution network. Power quality is improved in Foshan distribution networkby the research on the application of power quality monitoring system andharmonic compensation.
