Landscape design is an emerging discipline relative to other subjects. While highway landscape design is just an initial formed brand discipline with the development of the highway construction. Highway landscape design is not only just for the beautiful construction, but to pursuit the user’s pleasure during the highway operation period. Based on the functionality of the modern highway, this paper deeply analyzes the landscape design principles and ideas of the highway roadbed, slope, bridges, tunnels, interchanges and other structures, and applies the research results to the construction practice of Hunan Province Zhanghua Highway, and obtains the following main achievements:(1) Puts forward the general principles of the highway dynamic landscape design:landscape design must skillfully combine with and use the natural elements of the highway environment, regional culture elements and artificial elements; create the landscape effect, which come from natural and better than natural, taken from the regional culture characteristics and unique to it, and accord with the highway characteristics;(2) Puts forward the main ideas of Zhanghua highway landscape design: ancient road, border town, new highway; comes up with the main objectives:safety, environmental protection, comfort and harmony; carries history, pay attention to life, and preserve memories; love life, respect for nature, and cherish the resources;(3) Has finished Zhanghua highway route general dynamic landscape design, roadbed slope and bridges dynamic landscape design, tunnels typical entrance dynamic landscape design and interchanges dynamic landscape design, and successfully applies to the construction practice.
