With the rapid development of photovoltaic power generation technology, improving power efficiency is always the research hotspot at home and abroad. Developing sun ray tracking system is one of the most effective ways of improving the efficiency in electric power generation. Sun ray tracking system has been from the past uniaxial tracking system toward the trend of dual-axial tracking, automation and intelligence. In this paper, a set of the sun ray tracking system with good technical economy was developed for meeting the current needs of the photovoltaic power generation technology development. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Overall scheme design research:According to the performance index and the design criteria of the tracking device, the components of the system were analyzed and its working principle was introduced. The overall scheme design was determined by comparing the performance of tracking device such as the transmission scheme, motor type, controller, and so on. In the end, based on the overall scheme design, the general layout of the device was made.(2)Mechanical structure design research:According to the general layout, the structure of solar panel frame, bracket, support and other components were designed in detail. The key components of the device were calculated and selected. The motor model was identified by dynamics analysis. In order to verify the feasibility of the assembly of the component, the3D model of the tracking device was established and assembled in SOLIDWORKS software.(3) Mechanical structure analysis:Based on the elastic mechanics theory, finite element method and the optimization theory, static analysis, model analysis and lightweight was made in ANSYS software for the tracking device. The evaluation of analysis proves that the structure design of the device is feasible, and the results of the analysis can lay the foundation for prototype test of the device.(4) Control system design research:According to the function which the tracking system will achieve, the hardware and software of the control system was designed. Prototype tracking experiment demonstrates that the performance of control and mechanical property are good.
