In the modern bulk material handling industry, long distance, cross-countrybelt conveyor is playing an increasingly crucial role. Because it is not only highefficiency, energy saving, reliable operation, the most leading characteristic isthat it can be flexible to adapt to topographical environment. Belt conveyor withhorizontal curves is one of the directions which will have good prospects fordevelopment. For the previous conveyor design calculations considered theproblem singly and method was simple, which can not adapt to the demands ofthe development of modern science and technology. According to the currentproject’s damands, an in-depth research should be done to the relevanttechnology of the conveyor.In this pape we mainly studied the force analysis of plane angle beltconveyor and carried on theoretical analysis of how it can steer automatically.Mathematical and physical model was established. The turning radiuscalculation formula was deduced by the conditions of turning belt force balance,limitation of maximum stress and the lateral belt without leaving the roller. Atthe same time because the turning radius is affected by the geographicalenvironment factors, under the premise of the foregone turning radius, it bcomestroublesome to determine the parameters for turning period of variousmechanism. Based on MATLAB,an optimization program was established forturning period, it saves a lot time to determine the parameters. For long distanceconveyor’s load is great, it needs more multi-driven, while there exists a problemof power balance between every motor. The theoretical analysis was carried onfor the problem, and put forward the solution. Finally we carried out a dynamicssimulation for the conveyor, built dynamics models for each conveyer’s unit, andthen established the dynamic equation. Through the boundary conditions andinitial conditions, the dynamic equation can be solved. Meanwhile applidMATLAB to write dynamic analysis software forthe plane turning belt conveyor,set up a graphical interactive interface, a simulation calculation was carried on for the start-stop processof the flat belt conveyor, results realized visualization,analysis of simulation results.
