Steel structure has been widely used in the construction industry,because it has many advantages, but cannot ignore its fatal flaw-fire resistance is poor. Under fire, the steel products in all kinds of material performance are greatly reduced, resulting in structural failure. With the rapid development of industry in our country, the application of steel structure in industrial is growing, many special industries such as petrochemical enterprises will suffer hydrocarbon fire in the process of production, starting a fire and causing immeasurable loss. Steel structure joint as an important part of building structure, plays the vital role for structure bearing capacity.So the joints in the petrochemical fire resistance is significance.In this paper, our research object is the welded joints of the ethylene project in daqing. Using ABAQUS software, all welded joint performance changes in fire is analyzed. First of all the parameters for the simulation and the simulation method is determined. Then the joint in the actual project to study how to work in petrochemical fire environment is selectd. By changing the joint parameters the influence of different parameters on the joint of fire resistance is determined. Establishing finite element model of fire retardant coating the change of temperature field and protective effect on the fire resistance of joint is analyzed.Research shows that ABAQUS to simulate such problem has strong applicability. In fire environments welding joint deformation is mainly shear deformation. Change the size of column section and beam section can change joint fire resistance to varying degrees. Different fire conditions, the temperature field distribution of joints have significant differences. Fire retardant coating can effectively improve the joint refractory time in the environment of hydrocarbon fire. For numerical simulation about the joint has initial defects shows that under the influence of the defects and external load joints became yield and destruction easily.
