In these years, the number of city cars increased rapidly in China. However, a big problem that many vehicles can not be parked easily was caused by the serious shortage of city parking space.For the current parking situation in urban community, a new type of mechanical garage with high space utilization was proposed in this paper. The overall structure and drive mode and working principle of the mechanical garage were analyzed and designed, including the structure of steel frame, moving device, elevating frame, u-turn board and lifting mechanism. In order to save time of parking, the U-turn board working in space was designed especially.In this paper the virtual prototype models of moving device and U-turn board were established. The movement of moving device was studied by combined simulation, and the interrelations of motor torque and velocity and displacement were analyzed. And then, the kinematics analysis and dynamic analysis of moving and U-turn steps were done, and the motion stabilization and impact force of these two situations were studied. In this way, the smooth and precise movement was ensured.Finally, the dynamics simulation results were substituted into the finite element software, and the stress and strain of rack gear and support rollers were analyzed. The modal analysis and stress analysis and the transient dynamics of many key parts were analyzed. In the way, the safety and reliability of this mechanical garage were ensured.
