The Six Sigma Design In The Application Of The Corrosion Resistance Of The Pattern Plate Improvement Projects

Rising since the1990s, the Six Sigma Management Method has been widely used in research and production in many areas. Fruitful achievements in Motorola, GM etc. have strongly substantiated the Six Sigma Management Method is highly effective.There are many kinds of application combinations in Six Sigma Management Method and DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) is one of them. DFSS is a design process based on team work. DFSS is a systemic method. From the beginning of the design process of new products, new process and new service, DFSS aims at6σ by reducing further check, test, rework, repair etc. By this high quality level design, new products, new process and new service can meet customers’ demands better.Iron and steel making is a mass production industry, while Six Sigma is based on statistics. Hence, the DFSS should be applicable in the iron and steel area. Currently, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control, this is one kind of Six Sigma Management application solution) is widely used in quality and efficiency improvement area of production, process etc., while DFSS is rarely used in product improvement area. This is the first time the DFSS method used in product improvement in the company. The feasibility of the application DFSS in product improvement was intended to be investigated. Also this can offer some experience in method selection for project practice.This dissertation contents seven chapters. Firstly, the backgrounds, current status and basic knowledge of Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma were introduced, and then is the implementation process according to ICOV (Identify, Characterize, Optimize, Verify) process. In the last chapter, conclusions were summarized and also the potential improvement points were also discussed.
