It is essential during the design of servo systems to examine their operations by testing the tracking performances of the systems and by the simulations of typical characteristics of the load torque. In this paper, A universal and integrated servo test system based on LabVIEW and PXI Express is developed due to a horizontal issue requested by the second academy of China aerospace.The servo test system, torque-loading system and virtual instruments are introduced at the beginning of this paper. The hardware and software are designed on the basis of the overall structure of the system. The hardware part consists mainly of the PXIe-1062Q chassis and the PXIe-6361DAQ card, with a number of external devices such as display, keyboard and mouse. By using the latest PXI Express technology, bus performance is improved. More development efficiency and less maintenance costs are achieved by means of LabVIEW’s powerful library.There are two big parts in the software:servo testing and torque-loading testing. In the servo part, the generations of signals such as step, constant velocity, sine and file signal are proposed. Step and sine signals are the key researches. Then the calculation methods of the parameters of the performance corresponding to these signals are proposed.In the torque-loading part, typical waveforms such as friction, sine, square wave and triangle wave are generated. The generation of bidirectional square wave and bidirectional triangle wave are the key research in this part, and the previous algorithms are improved.The two above big parts are integrated for a better versatility. Users can simply change the mode by turning on and off the switch. Functions of human-computer interaction including parameter settings, interface refreshing and data saving are realized. Code optimization and reliability design are added into the program.The final results meet the requirements pointed out at the very beginning of the design and development. The whole system has a simple structure and can effectively test the performance of the servo system and the practicality of the control algorithm.
