Square and rectangular section concrete-filled steel tube members have been broadly used in construction works, since it can be easily made with simple construction steps and joints. The square and rectangular double concrete-filled steel tubular laced columns can obtain larger sectional flexural stiffness, which is beneficial for it to develop its good compressive strength, so it is suitable used as piers. In order to make square section concrete-filled steel tubular laced columns, square and rectangular double concrete-filled steel tubular laced columns into the application of bridge constructions, the following studies are completed based on the achievements of previous research:1. The bearing capacity calculation of axially loaded and eccentric loaded middle long square concrete-filled steel tubular columns is done by numerical integration method with writing the program codes and by software ABAQUS with modeling and computing. The load-displacement curves obtained by both methods agree well with the test curve.2. Square section concrete-filled steel tubular pier is constructed based on the core concrete constitutive model of square section concrete-filled steel tube with the same height according to the loading parameters of high pier design in engineering practices. Calculation on square section concrete-filled steel tubular piers is done by ABAQUS and numerical integration method based on the constitutive model of square concrete-filled steel tube. The load-displacement curves obtained by these two methods agree well with each other. The influence of concrete compression strength fcu, steel yield strength fy, steel ratio of sections α and horizontal force P on the ultimate bearing capacity of square concrete-filled steel tubular piers is explored by parametric analysis.3. Double square and rectangular section concrete-filled steel tubular piers are constructed based on the previous study of the research team. The influencing factors on the ultimate bearing capacity of double square and rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular piers such as concrete compression strength fcu, steel yield strength fy, steel ratio of sections α, horizontal force P and the size, shape, wall thickness t, position, numbers and arrangement form of connecting beam is explored by using ABAQUS taking the loading parameters of high pier design in engineering practices.4. The ultimate bearing capacity, deformation and longitudinal stress are compared among double circular, square and rectangular section concrete-filled steel tubular piers with and without connecting beam by using ABAQUS when the consumption of concrete and steel remains unchanged.
