| The research and development trend of multipurpose bullet and application of reactive material on the bullet were introduced in this paper. The main factors that influenced the penetration were analyzed by using penetration theory. The hypermesh and Ls-dyna were used to simulate the process of four shapes of the bullet core and their velocity curves were obtained. The results showed that the performance of the four shapes of the bullet core differs widely during the oblique penetration. The limit piercing velocity and maximum angle change of velocity direction is smallest when the first shape of bullet core penetrating the target.A new reactive bullet was proposed. The finite element models of this new reactive bullet and ordinary bullet were established. The two bullets’ velocity and core axis deflection in normal and oblique penetration were compared by numerical simulation which provided a useful theoretical reference for the design of the multipurpose bullet. The velocity that influenced the penetration of the new reactive bullet was analyzed in this paper. Some meaningful conclusions about the cavity in core tail were obtained by changing the size of the cavity. |
