[OBJECTIVE]Preliminary systematic pharmacognostical study on five kinds of herbs produced in hunan province.Clarifying the Gnaphalium affine drug products,constantly improve Gnaphalium affine quality standards and lay the foundation for the development of Gnaphalium affine with resources.[METHODS]Five kinds of herbs produced in hunan province from the original p lant identification, character identification, microscopic identification, physicochemical identification, four aspects are studied.[RESULTS]1. On five kinds of herbs from the original plant identification and character identification found significant differences between five kinds of cudweed.2. Microscopic identification:The obvious difference existed microscopic characteristic of five kinds of herbs in the transverse section of the stem, the stem epidermis, leaf surface of upper and lower epidermis, leaf cross section. 3. The physical and chemical identification:thin-layer chromatograpy showed that the five kinds of affine cudweed contains quercetin. In total ash, acid insoluble ash and extract determination:Gnaphalium affine total ash content is16.82mg/g, G. pensylvanicum willd is26.57mg/g, G. japonicum Thunb is23.83mg/g,G adnatum(Wall.ex DC.) Kitam is10.99mg/g,G. hypoleucum DC is19.15mg/g; G.affineacid insoluble ash is6.03mg/g, G. pensylvanicum willd is8.83mg/g, G. japonicum Thunb is8.12mg/g, G adnatum(Wall.ex DC.) Kitam is4.23mg/g,G. hypoleucum DC is5.10mg/g; G. affine hot dipping method to extract content is17.41mg/g, G. pensylvanicum willd is16.69mg/g, G. japonicum Thunb is15.85mg/g, G.adnatum(Wall.exDC.) Kitam is13.56mg/g,G. hypoleucum DC is14.79mg/g; alcohol extract test:by testing40%.50%.60%.70%.80%.90%,six different concentrations of ethanol, ethanol concentration is60%of five varieties can achieve satisfactory results.Content determination:the UV spectrophotometry for the five k indsof affine cudweed on the flavonoids content and total polysacch aride content determination. Average total flavonoids content:G. aff ine is71.53mg/g, G. pensylvanicum willd is22.59mg/g, G. japonic um Thunb is88.02mg/g, G. adnatum(Wall.ex DC.) Kitam is68.60m g/g,G. hypoleucum DC is114.34mg/g; Flavonoidscontent from high to low:G. hypoleucum DC> G. japonicum Thunb> G. affine> G. adnatum(Wall.ex DC.) Kitam>G pensylvanicum willd.There are d ifferences between different varieties. Average total polysaccharide c ontent:G. affine is18.23mg/g, G. pensylvanicum willd is9.57mg/g, G. japonicum Thunb is7.40mg/g, G. adnatum(Wall.ex DC.)Kitam is11.01mg/g,G hypoleucum DC is5.04mg/g; Total polysaccharide content from high to low:G. affne> G adnatum(Wall.ex DC.) K itam> G. pensylvanicum willd> G.japonicum Thunb> G. hypoleuc um DC.There are differences between different varieties.On G. affine,G pensylvanicum willd and G. japonicum Thunb th e three of cudweed is identifiedby GC-MS determinationof volatile oil.[CONCLUSSION]Five kinds of herbs in original plant identification, morphologic al identification and microscopic identification of obvious difference, as to distinguish the five kinds of herbs scientific basis; Height ca n be used as a measure of the total flavonoids content in herbs wit h an index of the value; Five kinds of herbs to G.affine medicine i s given priority to, can be ruled out Gnaphalium polycaulon Pers medicinal value; G affine is the most development value in drugs a nd health food in five kinds of herbs.
