Zuozhuan And Lu Culture And Custom Research

Zuo Zhuan is the first narrative detailed chronicle of works in China, which is the most important ancient book and record to understand the history and culture of ancient China. Zuo Zhuan has the indispensable historical value for studying the custom culture of the State Lu as it recorded the social and political life of State Lu. So we studied State Lu customs in all aspects of culture accoding to Zuo Zhuan. This article is divided into four parts in addition to the preface and epilogue outside.Preface mainly introduced the author of Zuo Zhuan, and affirmed that the writer of Zuo Zhuan was Zuo QiuMing with the corroborative evidence. This paper also discussed the connotation of culture and the difference between custom and folkways. Finally we expounded the value of Zuo Zhuan in the study of custom culture research of State Lu.The present paper first explored the music tradition. State Lu was the kingdom of Boqin, the son of Zhou gong. And because the etiquette-music culture which initiated by Zhou Gong deeply affected Lu, Lu was the State which had the most complete national rites. Secondly this paper introduced characteristics of marriage customs, specific performance of unmarried with the same family name, the Ying qie system, and some characteristics of marriage etiquettenamesake. At last, the paper introduced the bury common features. This was discussed in three parts.The second chapter mainly discussed belief customs of State Lu in Zuo Zhuan. It was divided into two sections. The first was religion, which included worship and fete to god and stars, to the state and to the ancestor. Through all sorts of sacrifice recorded in Zuo Zhuan, we discussed the beliefs that time. Then we expound the development of divination at that time which also was the part of belief customs.Chapter 3 inteoduced the production customs of Lu. At first this paper explored the custom of agriculture, including the tradition of takeing farming seriously, the suitable agricultural environment, the main crops and the appearance of iron tools. The second was the sericultural advantages in livestock and animal husbandry breeding. The last was the development of manual business.The fourth chapter expounded the life custom. This part firstly discussed the characteristics of food, including dietary etiquette optimization, the particular about food cooking and the level difference on diet. The second was the dress style, including type and level difference, and the summarizes of the characteristics of live aspects; Finally was the development of traffic at State Lu.The epilogue section illustrated the academic value and significance of Zuo Zhuan research and the culture and custom in State Lu.
