With the increasing requirement of the morden society to improve language practitioners’s language knowledge and skills, it is necessary for language users to acquire comprehensive linguistic competence either for practical use or for the need of research. Therefore, people come to realize the importance of developing one’s linguistic competence by using a proper teaching method in writing class, such as RTQC, Free Writing Method, Communicative Approach, Task Method and Process Approach.Among them, the Process Approach is becoming more and more important in the teaching of Chinese as a second language. But there is few research both in theory and teaching until now. It is, in fact, usually applied in the advanced coursed of writing, rarely in the intermediate course of writing. This thesis is based on the process approach writing method, through the teaching experiment and questionnaire survey as its research method, and adopts Process Writing for Foreigner wrote by Yangli as its teaching material. It reveals that process writing method rarely be used in the intermediate course of writing of teaching Chinese as second language, and each steps of the method also cannot fully made use of in practice. Furthermore, the thesis analyses the character of process writing method, such as excessive requirement for teacher’s quality of teaching, and uneasy control of classroom instruction. At last, it puts forward some constructive suggestions to improve the efficiency of writing for teachers.The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the purpose and significance of the issue, and puts forward the research target and method. The second chapter illustrates the current situation and problems of process writing method which is applied in English and Chinese classroom instruction. The third chapter introduces the process writing method and its theory background in detail. The fourth chapter illustrates the result of one-semester classroom instruction experiment which takes Process Writing Method as its teaching method. And analyse the classroom instruction deeply. At last, the fifth chapter will put forward some suggestions toward the problems.
