The relationship of Virtue and happiness has discussed by many philosophers. In the finalanalysis,the substance of that problem is about our virtue and happiness. Throughout history, wecan see that in the every times , each major philosopher think about the relationship of virtue andhappiness deeply ,which leaves much material for posterities to learn. But whether the ancientChinese philosophers or western ancient philosophers didn’t complete the theory of virtue andhappiness.Mou Zongsan is a main represent of the new confucianism. His book《Goodness》demonstrates that the virtue and happiness are consistent. Mou has a good appraisement for hisbook. he considered it had been successful to solve Kant’s problem. After that, he graduallyformed its own perfect Good theory through the analysis, on the basis of Kant. Of course,《Goodness》is the end of Mou’s theory, it is a most comprehensive book which is about theconsistent of virtue and happiness.Mou think that, although Kant advanced the highest goodness, but finally,he returned tothe god in order to find the ways for solving the problem of perfect Good .He deal with theproblem of perfect Good just toward to it. He disarmed kant’s three public theories, and set up aboundless heart, then educed from the boundless wisdom heart .And followed that, he usededuced to demonstrate the perfect Good。Finally,he returned to Confucianism to solve theproblem of perfect Good。It can be said that the highest form of the goodness of Mou thought. Goodness based on thedirection of Confucianism, through Buddhism and Taoism, blending with Kant. It has thoroughreasoning, rigorous logical framework, innovative idears and full demonstration, which areimpressive. Therefore, the theory of Mou not only has its own unique meaning, but also hastheoretical significance of the mix of Chinese and western thought.
