Queer Theory is also translated as Kuer theory. It’s generally believed that it isTeresa de Lauretis who firstly used Queer Theory clearly and definitely on themagazine‘Difference’Teresa de Lauretis in 1991. The theory was put forward for thepolitical return of antigay during the latter half of 20th to prevent the abruption of thecamp of the vindicators of their right. With the expansion of the struggle faction andfurther study on the queer theory, the meaning of Queer became different. Now Queergenerally means the person who is out of the main sex tender. Queer Theory is atheory about this kind of people, who challenge the traditional dichotomy of male andfemale. It also watches out the Hegemonism of homosexual.This paper used the Queer Theory as a kind of literary theory to make it betterand more useful in literary criticism. In this way literary criticism would also getmore diversified. When we appreciate a poem or a fiction, we can get another view.This paper consists of the introduction, main body of three chapters and the ending.In chapter 1, it mainly introduced the birth of the Queer Theory. First, itdistinguished the difference and relationship between Ancient Greek spirit and QueerTheory about the homosexual. Then the paper connected Queer Theory with theFoucault’s discourse space theory, Lacan’s syllogism, Jacques Derrida’s criticism ofLogocentrism and Feminist Literary Theory.In chapter 2,it mainly introduced the content about Queer Theory. On the onehand, the paper discussed the conception of Androgyny and analyzed Judith Butler’sgender performativity theory as well. On the other hand, some ideas of how to makeQueer Theory more useful for literary criticism were put forward.In the last chapter, the paper used Queer Theory in critical practice. In this part,the paper took Oscar Wilde as an example, which also provide a new view for thecriticism of Oscar Wilde.
