As A Way Of Life Of The Folk Song Singing

Today, a large number of the Han Chinese folk songs are kept in Mengusi, a town of Fang county, Hubei province. Folk singing activities have occupied an important position in the life of the Mengusi people. Nowadays, folk singing activities is still an important part of the Mengusi everyday life.The folksong life of Mengusi refers to the lifestyle and ideas of people around the Mengusi town within the scope of the folk singing activities. The folksong life includes the process of folk singing activities, the behaviors in order to achieve and maintain the folk singing continuous, a code of conduct to develop the folk singing activities, the objects used in the folk singing activities, and the attitude and the concept of the people on the performance of folk songs. The folksong life is not a fixed pattern, but continues to change with the change of people’s daily lives. The concept of the folksong life is built based on the concept of folk life. The purpose of studying the folksong life is recording the basic situation, the operating mode and the attitude of its participants of the folksong life; analyzing the development trend of the folksong life through this record; finding out some possible reference to research folk life through this recording and analysis; and attempting to summarize some of the common trend of development and changes at different time, different range of folk life.This research involves three aspects:the history and current status of the folksong life, the activities of the participants of the folksong life and understanding of the way of such activities, the development trend of the folksong life. Song Hongcheng is a representative figure of the Mengusi folk singer. Song’s life experiences and his understandings of the folksong life will help researchers to get a deeper understanding of the folksong life.As the lifestyle of a region or a social group, folk life is not always in a process of demise. On the contrary, folk life is in some long-term dynamic changes. Today, the status of folk singing in the Mengusi people’s everyday life has changed, which is part of the internal adjustment of the local folk life. In future, even if the social position of folk singing is replaced by other forms of folk, folk songs and the functions of folksong life will also be passed to new forms of folk and ensure that the folk life continue to run. There are different specific expressions and ways of development of the folk life. However, the searching of the attitude of treating folk life and the general trend of development of folk life through different groups covered by different folk lives, should be an important subject of all folklore researchers.
