Wang Chaowen Literary Thought Research

Wang Zhaowen(1909-2004),a famous contemporary esthetician, Marxist theoristof Literature and Art, sculptor,educator of art as well as one of the Pioneers of Marxistart and literary theory. He is fluent in Literature,fine art,folk art and operas.Since thefounding of New China,he has been devoted himself to the studies of laws ofaesthetics and construction of the art ideological system on the basis of social lifeunder the guidance of basic tenets of Marxism.Wang Zhaowen is known for hisunique study style as well as profound and plentiful means.With the rapiddevelopment of studies of Aesthetics of Literature and Art, his literatural and articalthoughts become more and more valuable and significant. The studies of WangZhaowen’s literatural and artical thoughts has not been given due attention to in theresearch cycle, though we have already carried on an in-depth study on it. In order tomake a better summarization of Wang Zhaowen’s literatural and artical thoughts underthe background of new era, this paper mainly analyzes his literatural and articalthoughts: theoretic origins, crucial elements, comprehensive assessment are threemain ways during this process. This article tries to take the point view of the theoreticorigins of Wang Zhaowen’s literatural and artical thoughts, analyses its majorcharacteristics and further to discover the contemporary significance of his literaturaland artical thoughts.The first section states the theoretical origins of Wang Zhaowen’s literarytheories from the aspects of classical literary thoughts, Mao Zedong literary andartistic thoughts and Marxism literary thoughts. Wang Zhaowen accurately holds theuniversal law of Chinese classical literary thoughts, draws on the experience of MaoZedong literary and artistic sociology and dialectics thoughts and absorbs in the pithof Marxism literary thoughts as well.The second section mainly extents the crucial elements of Wang Zhaowen’sliteratural and artical thoughts,which consists of the methodology of sociology ofliterature, the theory of aesthetic relationship and the value orientation. WangZhaowen makes a penetrating analysis of the dialectical between art and life. Hisesthetic thoughts which is guided by the value orientation of nationalization andcivilianization change from the artistic aesthetical relationship to the humanaesthetical relationship.The third section totally comment on Wang Zhaowen’s literatural and articalthoughts. This section gives high praise to Wang Zhaowen’s aesthetical studiesmethods and his studies of aesthetic relationship, and underlines the directive significance of his theories. In addition, this part tries to discuss the localization of hisesthetic thoughts.
