With the attitude towards art as an social practice, this article aims toanalyze the relationship between art and reality, i.e., the relationshipbetween the human anxiety to be identified in real life and screenwriting.Especially for a Chinese TV serials screenwriter, it’s about how to survivein the system of mainstream value and at the same time to create the workthat’s truly loved and enjoyed by ordinary people.Along with the continuous urbanization in China, there will be moreand more transitional area, the so called half-rural and half-urbanzone-neither city nor rural, it’s a phenomenon that’s becomingincreasingly common. To some extent, the floating migrants are the linkbetween Chinese rural areas and the cities. They are burdened withmental anxiety of modern lives in cities as well as the moralresponsibility as traditional farmers.There is no doubt that it’s the easiest way for screenwriters to dig inthem to explore potential drama conflicts that comes from life, and it hasan innate advantage of viewing population to base the drama on floatingmigrants. This type of dramas belongs to urban drama but shadowing therural lives. The heroes are from rural area but the story happens in urban.Both urban civilians and rural habitants can find their sense of belongingsin this type of drama.As to the art being deemed as social practice, this type of dramasatisfies the economic requirements of TV market, the psychologicalneeds of modern hearts, and to some extent, the current political demands,which can function to reconcile the social contradictions. Therefore, thisis a social problem that worth serious attention and an art problem thatneeds further study.
