Donald A. Ritchie says "doing oral history" for the biggest difference between oral history and the other history research methods is "doing", which makes an angle of view from the bottom to top for history research, an opportunity for people to record and write history and concern for the many blank spaces of history research in the past.Practice is the key of oral history. This paper starts combing out the concept and characteristics of oral history research methods and oral history materials as well as the advantage with a small oral interview plan of the author’s by interviewing shu embroidery craftsmen, and analyzes the advantage and disadvantage of the inheritance of the Chinese traditional handicrafts and history research comparing with the other history research methods according to the achievements of this interview. Because of some common characteristics of handicraft, the advantage and disadvantage is highly possible to have a common significance in the inheritance of Non material cultural heritage and history research, which makes a more rich and attention-getting social reality significance, as well as expressing the concerns of reality and humanity of history research.
