Based On The Genre Of The Government Work Report Of The State Council

This thesis chooses Report on the Work of Government as data, taking Swales and Bhatia’s genre theory as the theoretic frame, tries to analysis the genre of Report on the Work of Government. The writer collected the authentic data from1978to2011. We choose the first year of every five-year plan as data, on which we compel a corpus over161,000words. This thesis contains five parts. First, it summarizes the existing research about Report on the Work of Government and genre theory. Second, the thesis introduces its data, the structure and research method. Thirdly, it developed our own genre theory based the critical research on other’s theory and frame work. Fourthly, and also the main part of the work, we analysis the data, trying to construct the genre framework of Report on the Work of Government, in order to guide the practice in related subjects with the result of our research. Finally, we sum up the whole thesis, point the faults and the limits, which can be remedy and improve in the future research.
