Nowdays, the footstep of globalization is accelerated further, the interculturecommunication happened more frequently. This kind of communication produce us notonly better understanding but also new challenges. When the people from differentcultures communicate, they may encounter a variety of problems which may arisemisunderstandings and conflicts. Obviously, we need research into the differencebetween different languages and cultures, identify both similarities and differences.Weshould go deep into the analysis and try to find the effective strategies to deal with thechallenges. As we all know, the language is a mirrow of the culture. In order to study thelanguage well, we should understand the culture first. The word “taboo” was originallyused by the people of the Tangjia Island in the southern part of Pacific Ocean. It refer toperson, things and activities that were sacred, forbidden. We should pay more attentionto it. The taboo exist in everywhere of people’s life. It is the oldest standards of people’sbehaviour. People believe that the language have powerful strengths therefore,thedisaster will followed by the inappropriaete use of the language. That is the reason whythe linguistic taboo produced. The lingustic taboo is a phenomenon exist in languageand community. It’s all about culture.The linguist taboo exist both in Chinese and English. There are some differences inChinese and English taboos which influenced by different religious faith, social systems,values and culture backgrounds. In the context of intercultural communication, thispaper introduces the taboos exist in Chinese and English. On this basis, in order to helpreaders to learn linguistic taboo in Chinese and English entirely and directly, I havemade a comparison of similarities and differences between them, analyse their originsdeeply. We should face the lingustic taboo positively in the interculture communication.Effective method should be found to avoid blunders caused by linguist taboo.
