Metaphor links with the nation’s culture, it reflects a nation’s way of thinking and cultural psychology as the carrier of language. Due to the common material foundation of the objective, all ethnic groups in the world have a common cognitive foundation.Metaphor bases on four aspects, the objective basis, psychological basis, cultural foundation and language base, we most concerned about is the "image" and "semantic" part, because it directly determines the strategies and methods of translation. Many rhetorician and translators pay more attention to the translation and contrast of Chinese and English, a few studies on the Uighur and Chinese. The methods and principles of the translation are problems that we should know. This thesis using the Uighur version "a dream of red mansions" as the main reference object, contrast the metaphor between Uighur and Chinese. Nida’s theory of Functional Equivalence/Dynamic Equivalence, is more applicable and examining mode for translating metaphors.
