Referencing the traditional Chinese painting elements, the evolution ofChinese oil painting make the series of the evolution of the input, alteration, change and development as an object of study of oil painting separately. It highlight that Chinese oil painting is affected deeply by traditional Chinese painting in the transformation and development. Chinese oil painting has different change and development at different stages. When it gradually formed the characteristics of Chinese oil paintings,it embodies the elements of traditional Chinese painting consciously or unconsciously at the same time,which makes the reference effect of traditional Chinese painting elements significantly different.Referencingthe traditional Chinese painting elements, the evolution ofChinese oil painting experiences three stages of referencing traditional Chinese painting passively and actively,and the references of traditional Chinese painting at present.At the stage of learning passively,it is represented by Ricci,Castiglione and Attiret in initial stage.In order to cater to the royal nobles’aesthetic requirement and fulfil the purpose to do missionary work in China,they referenced traditional Chinese painting elements in superficial unity and coherence.They had been basically learnt from the elements of material,skill and technique,presentation and so on of traditional Chinese painting,resulting to the matters that the general appearance of the pictures were rigid and uncoordinated. At the stage of learning actively,it is represented by XuBeihong,Liu Haisu,Dong Wenxi and Wu Guanzhong,they started to study the western oil painting.Because of the influences of Chinese traditional culture and painting,they made Chinese oil painting have its national characteristics,and formed the painting language and emotional expression of Chinese oil painting gradually.The obvious changes of the effect for Chinese oil painting learning from traditional Chinese painting have been taken place that made the phenomena of "Neither Chinese nor Western""Neither fish nor fowl" of initial oil painting have been able to be changed and improved step by step and be developed.What is more,it also have a preliminary exploration on the east and west,can fairly fuse the understanding of the characteristics as well as techniques of oil painting and the traditional Chinese painting elements.At present,Chinese oil painting’changes and developments are tend to the freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting, Zhao Kaikun,Cui Guoqiang,Zhan Xinbei,BaiYuping are the examples.This stage’references is more freedom and open.The process for Chinese oil painting to refercence the traditional Chinese painting elements is the process to transform the spirit of Chinese culure, national aesthetic characteristics and the spirit of emotion into the heterogeneous art.,forming the Chinese oil painting that different from western oil painting.
