This paper is to discuss the color symbolic meaning in the Zhou Dynasty, so that get the profound cultural reasons of the color symbolic significance in the Zhou Dynasty, finally summarizes influence to today of the color symbolic significance.The full text is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction. Mainly include selected topic reason, meaning and the previous research results as well as inadequate, finally clarify the research method.The second part is the definition and classification of the color as well as the symbolic definition and characteristics. This part is the foundation of the color symbolic meaning study. It is a foundation for studying a problem to clear definition on this research field, then a clear classification.The second chapter of this article firstly finds the earliest definition of the color from the ancient books in the Zhou Dynasty, then makes a clear category for the colors from East and West Point of view and expounds the five-color classification is a very reliable classification standard; secondly do the basic definition and classification of symbol with the symbolic anthropology theories as a solid groundwork for the third part and the fourth part.The third part is the symbolic meanings of colors. This part not only is the main part of the full text, but also the support. Content is as follows:lists five color including younger, yellow, red, white, black and the word family corresponding to them,such as green, which is a general concept, also is a color range, and it includes many similar colors. Then do deeply analysis to color symbolic significance the base of ancient books.The fourth part of this article is the cultural factors of influenced color symbolic meaning. They include the concept of Yin and Yang.Five Elements, color idea, ancient cultural traditions, and the concept of political factors.The fifth part is the influence to later generations the Zhou Dynasty color symbolic system. A cultural history of beauty lies in the care of this culture connotation on the base of analysis of historical cultural phenomenon, By interpreting deeply the ancient traditional culture to understand the contemporary culture. The five-color symbolism establish by the Zhou Dynasty produced profound effect on China.today. The sixth part is the conclusion. This is a part of a simple summary in the simple language, so that it is more convenient for researcher interested in the study of the symbolic color researchers to criticize, reference.
