The Characteristics And Influencing Factors Of College Students' Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a process of prosocial change of motivation.It is a psychological process that a person’responses towards the offender are transferred from negative to positive after a offense.Forgiveness resesrch is important for school education and students’psychology health.The paper tested585college subjects in order to examine the characteristics of college students’forgiveness and the relationship among forgiveness, ruminatin, responsibility attrabution, empathy, personality and factors relation to offense,as well as the path connections among forgiveness, ruminatin, empathy and personality.The results is as follows:(1) The characteristics of college students’ forgiveness.The college students with different grades are significant difference in forgiveness of others, state forgiveness,avoidness.motivation.The scores of senior students’forgiveness of others are prominently lower than freshman and sophomore; but the scores of senior students’state forgiveness and avoidness motivation are prominently lower than freshman, sophomore and junior students. The college students with different sex are significant difference in avoidness forgiveness, state forgiveness,avoidness motivation and forgiveness behavioural tendency.The scores of boys’avoidness forgiveness is higher than girls;the scores of boys’forgiveness behavioural tendency are lower than girls, dimensions. In forgiveness behavioural tendency, non-one-child’sores are prominently higher than one-child’s. In avodiness motivation, non-one-child’s sores are prominently lower than one-child’s.(2) Forgivness of others has singifieantly influenced on state forgiveness, avoidness motivation, revenge motivation and forgiveness behavioural tendency.(3) Rumination, responsibility attrabution, empthy. Relationship closeness, harm severity, apology has singifieantly influenced on state forgiveness. Relationship closeness has singifieantly influenceed on revnege forgiveness. Relationship closeness, harm severity, Apology, time have singifieantly influenced on avoidness motivation. Harm severity has singifieantly influenceed on forgiveness behavioural tendency. Rumination has singifieantly influencedon state forgiveness, revnege motivation, avoidness motivation,forgiveness trait, forgiveness of others, forgiveness of self,but responsibility attrabution has no singifieantly influenced on forgiveness. Empthy has singifieantly influenced state forgiveness, revnege motivation, avoidness motivation,forgiveness trait,forgiveness of others,forgiveness of self.(4) Agreeableness, neuroism have singifieantly influenced on state forgiveness. Agreeableness has singifieantly influenced on revnege forgiveness.Neuroism, agreeableness, Extraversion have singifieantly influenced on avoidness forgiveness. Neuroism,Agreeableness have singifieantly influenced on forgiveness trait. Agreeableness, neuroism has singifieantly influenced on forgiveness of others.Neuroism,openness,extraversion has singifieantly influenced on forgiveness of self. Agreeableness has singifieantly influenced on forgiveness behavioural tendency.(5)The path among forgiveness,rumination,empathy,personality trait. Rumination mediated the relationship between agreeableness and state forgiveness, neuroism and state forgiveness,agreeableness and revenge motivation,agreeableness and avoidness forgiveness, neuroism and avoidness forgiveness, agreeableness and forgiveness trait,neuroism and forgiveness trait, agreeableness and forgiveness of others, neuroism and forgiveness of others, neuroism and forgiveness of self.Empathy mediate the relationship between neuroism and state forgiveness, agreeableness and revenge motivation, agreeableness and avoidness motivation, neuroism and avoidness motivation, neuroism and forgiveness trait, agreeableness and forgiveness of others, neuroism and forgiveness of others.
