China Southern Minority Nationalities Bamboo Bamboo Instruments And Vietnam Instruments Comparative Study

This dissertation mainly focuses on comparisons of bamboo instruments widely used by minorities from Southern China and those counterparts of various ethnic groups in Vietnam. There are a large amount of these instruments that enjoy tremendous popularity in these regions and they play a key role in local ’Bamboo Culture’. The author compared bamboo instruments of two regions from all aspects and analyzed reasons of the existence of differences, similarities and differences between these two places by using cross-compatible research methods; Therefore, further research of the relationship between China and Vietnam is accomplished. The whole dissertation contains three parts:1. This part concentrates on comparing out appearances, sounds, sounding mechanisms,pitches, modes, series of sound and traditional melodies between about68Vietnamese bamboo instruments to show their unique fascinations.2. This part would focus on comparing144Chinese bamboo instruments and those of Vietnamese from structures, sounding mechanisms, pitches, sounding characteristics, etc.3. This section is mainly about explanations that why there are similarities and differences between bamboo instruments of China and Vietnam. The author would research and analyze from different aspects, such as ecological environment, traditional culture, relationships between various nationalities.
