With China’s accelerating aging process, the senior citizen’s life condition has caused the country and society’s high attention. Under the guidance of the research background of positive psychology, studying the elder’s subjective well-being and putting forward corresponding method and strategy, is of great theoretical and practical significance.Subjective well-being is the integrity assessment of quality of life according to the own standard of the evaluator, and has the characteristics of subjectivity, integrity and relative stability. The purpose of this study is to explore the status and relations of city senior citizen’s meaning in life, attitude towards death and subjective well-being. Basic Information Questionnaire, Chinese Meaning in Life Questionnaire, Death Attitude Profile-Revised and Memorial University of Newfoudland Scale of Happiness were applied to city senior citizens in the way of random selection.202effective questionnaires were obtained. Data has been processed by the statistical method of descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and the utility analysis. Following results were found through analysis and research:(1) female senior citizen’s points of negative experience of subjective well-being were significantly higher than the male’s;(2) the points of subjective well-being of the senior citizen in undergraduate group were significantly higher than the junior middle school and the following group, and had no significant difference with the high school group and college school group;(3) the points of subjective well-being of the senior citizen in healthy group were significantly higher than the general group、ailment group and the group of serious illness, and had no significant difference with the relatively healthy group;(4) the points of subjective well-being of the senior citizen with a monthly income of1500Yuan above were significantly higher than the1500Yuan below group;(5) the points of subjective well-being of the senior citizen with six or more close friends and relatives were significantly higher than with two or below;(6) the senior citizen’s meaning in life and subjective well-being presented very significant positive correlation, fear towards death and subjective well-being presented extremely significant negative correlation, escaping acceptance of death and subjective well-being presented very significant negative correlation, escaping of death and subjective well-being presented a significant negative correlation;(7) the senior citizen’s meaning in life、healthy condition and fear towards death had significant contribution to their subjective well-being, healthy condition ranked first, followed by meaning in life, and fear towards death ranked third;(8) the senior citizen’s fear towards death had significant moderating effect between meaning in life and subjective well-being, while escaping acceptance had significant mediating effect.
