Mainly according to the material objects, images and historical literature in the Han, Wei, Jin, South and North Dynasties, this paper discusses the emergence, development, and evolution of the boshanlu. The materials are divided into different levels of analysis, at every level to take a different analysis method. First of all, this paper studies the diverse roles of boshanlu from the physical level. Secondly, it reveals the generation and style evolution of the boshanlu image. Finally, this paper attempts to explore the different nature of literature writing problems, and analyze how people embrace different intention to launch a different level to tell.This article intends to provide a new art history perspective different from the Archaeological study which focuses on the staging and typing and the arts and crafts research which concerns with decoration technology. Observing how social trends were projected onto a utensil, the author attempts to take boshanlu as a case study to explore a non-linear narrative way of the artifacts history.
